This cabinet represents about 120 hours from design to completion and is the third in this serpentine series. It is primarily bubinga. The drawer fronts are birdseye maple and are matched in sequence. The door and drawer pulls are hand-carved ebony.
The top is shaped in a "pagoda" fashion which reinforces and completes the overall form.
The case is joined with spline tenons as are the drawer dividers. The back is frame and panel set in a rabbet. Both the door rails and door panel are bent laminations, as well as the drawer fronts.
The door is knife-hinged and closes with a bullet catch. There are five drawers; each lined with black velvet.
The finish is a hand-rubbed oil/varnish mixture (seven coats progressively wet-sanded) and renaissance wax.
