The legs, lid frame, and drawer pulls are East Indian Rosewood. The case sides, lid panel, drawers and two sliding trays are birdseye maple. The tray bottoms, drawer bottoms, and the bottom of the top compartment are mahogany.
The chest is joined with spline tenons. Bridle joints are used for the lid frame. There is a shallow compartment below the trays and above the two drawers. A half mortise lock with two keys and Brusso hinges make up the hardware.
The jewelry box is lined with black velvet and the finish is an oil / varnish mixture and wax.
